Glamping in 2021 – what options do we have for holidays this year?

As we have entered a new year the pandemic is still dominating the news and has a massive impact on how we live our life. Most of us are probably dreaming of a holiday or getaway that will break up the monotony after 2 months of home schooling and continuous working from home. If you are a key worker the increased pressure to keep the country running is probably taking it’s toll.

You might also have tried to plan a holiday, but what options do we really have this year? As 2020 was grey and grim enough when it came to holidays and travel, 2021 didn’t start much better. Our own weekend getaway last summer in South Yorkshire came to an abrupt stop as the health secretary announced a local lockdown 5 minutes to midnight that Friday in August. Luckily restrictions seem to be lifted gradually through 2021, but the lack of certainty and predictability is probably something we will have to live with for a long time.

The safer bet is of course just to “Stay at home” to avoid wasting money on cancelled holidays and crushed dreams.

Nevertheless; spending your holiday at home doesn’t have to be boring and grim. Last summer a new version of glamping developed: “Garden glamping” or “staycation glamping”.
